What Northern Divers Can Help With
- Civil Engineering
Engineering services, which include structural, civil and industrial process wherever they are required such as subsurface, subterranean, confined space, above water, even internal processes, we have the capability to provide a professional detailed inspection. We are able to perform installation, repair and removal of submerged structures requiring cutting, burning, welding with specialist equipment.
- Renewables
Recent works in the wind industry have required the development and design input by ourselves, enabling problem solving and redesign prior to deployment to the field. These inputs from our highly experienced team not only removed many safety issues to the diver but also enabled the time saving on the installation by over 50% also enable time and cost savings to the client.
- Scour Control
The displacement of sand, silt and soil on the seabed is known as scour. The forces of nature are relentlessly at work worldwide reshaping beaches, rivers and sea beds. Currents, tides and storms work adversely within these environments causing erosion. This problem allows currents to increase in velocity locally, with the supporting sediment around structures eroding creating stress points. In time the effect of this scour will result in the possible collapse or breakage of such structures.
- Salvage
Salvage diving is a cross-discipline operation and often requires ultra-thermic burning, hot tapping to remove fluids and fuel, subsea rigging, air lifting/dredging, surveys, and lift bags to be deployed. Salvage diving is perhaps the most dangerous form of diving that takes place commercially and therefore we pay great attention to the safety of our divers and support staff whilst conducting all salvage activities.
- Pipeline installations and inspections
Ever since the first subsea pipelines were installed, engineers have been developing methods to inspect, repair and maintain them to ensure that they can safely transport the fluids required. Most of this development has focussed on the areas of saturation diving, remotely operated vehicles and pigging, with the technologies improving incrementally to meet the demands of deeper, hotter and higher-pressure pipelines.
Pipeline inspection is a vital component in the prevention of pollution to our main waterways and marine environment. A pipeline inspection can determine the possible leakage of its contents such as sewage which can have a detrimental effect on our marine wildlife, flora and fauna as well as public usage.
- Bridge inspections
The underwater inspection of the bridge structure, piles, piers, and abutments is a fundamental part of the maintenance being carried out for local Authorities and private companies.
We have developed methodologies utilising innovative materials and bespoke practices that enable us to deliver best value sustainable solutions for our clients. We can also remove debris, blockages and structures that increase strain on bridge structures reducing strength, our discrete methods allowed us to clear significant storm debris from a major road viaduct without using the bridge itself, hence no disruption to traffic.
