River Remedial Works

Experts since 1963

Your River Remedial Works Team

River Remedial works involve reconstructing sections of riverbanks which have been subject to scour/erosion and bank loss, this can be to protect assets such as gas pipelines or adjacent structures such as bridges.

Remedial works fall into different categories from hard engineering solutions such as Rip Rap stone & sheet piling, to greener options in the form of soft engineering, for example Willow & natural revetments.

What Northern Divers Can Help With

River Bank Reinstatement

As part of a development, for erosion control or simply for landscaping or aesthetic reasons, it is sometimes necessary to restore a riverbank. Water Environment can provide the design, advice and all necessary consents to reinstate a natural channel.

Scour Control

The displacement of sand, silt and soil on the seabed is known as scour. The forces of nature are relentlessly at work worldwide reshaping beaches, rivers and sea beds. Currents, tides and storms work adversely within these environments causing erosion. This problem allows currents to increase in velocity locally, with the supporting sediment around structures eroding creating stress points. In time the effect of this scour will result in the possible collapse or breakage of such structures.

Topographical Surveys

Data is collected, processed and presented using state-of-the-art hydrographic software. Our engineers, with their vast knowledge and more than … years’ experience, have been in great demand, transferring technology and providing training in hydrographic data collection techniques. With short mobilisation time, and almost 'plug in and play' setup, we can offer an excellent hydrographic survey service to our clients.

River Bed Profiling

Riverbed profiling allows us to understand what is under the surface of the waterand how it affects the surrounding environment. Long profiles demonstrate the course and load of the river, whilst cross-section profiles show the lateral and vertical erosion taking place.

Fluvial Surveys

Fluvial geomorphology studies the relationship between the shapes of rivers, the sediments and water transport process, and any landforms created. It assesses how the water interacts with the movement of sediment and debris such as collapsed trees and ranches. Further, it also assesses how the water, sediment, and any debris works with fixed structures such as dams, bridges, or reinforced banks.

Environmental Habitat Surveys

Our highly experienced team delivers efficient, cost effective and scientifically robust marine ecological survey and assessment services, offering specialist expertise in near-shore sub-tidal and inter-tidal habitats. Sectors we service include utilities, manufacturing, oil and chemical, construction, port operation and environmental regulation.
